Nigeria: Ebola has been contained

Last month, CGH's faculty--Dr. Olufunmilayo Olopade and Dr. Christopher 'Sola Olopade--traveled to Nigeria, where they were able to see the Nigerian response towards Ebola firsthand. Nigeria has implemented strict measures to isolate the ill and track down further possible cases, as well as protect public spaces by taking customers' temperatures with infrared thermometers and utilizing sanitizing equipment. As a result, Nigeria's last case of Ebola was reported on September 8th, 2014. The incubation period for the disease is 21 days and double that time must pass without any new cases before the country can be deemed transmission-free. The World Health Organisation (WHO) will make such an announcement later this month.

Below are some photos from the Olopades' latest trip and interactions with Nigerian healthcare professionals.
